Cities across Ukraine were hit by a torrent of attacks early Monday local time in apparent Russian retaliation for an attack on the strategically key Crimean Bridge this past weekend. Ukrainian officials reported injuries and deaths, although the total number remains unclear.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of targeting energy facilities and civilians across the country, including in and around Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Kharkiv. And Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s prime minister, reported that at least 11 key infrastructure facilities in eight regions and the city of Kyiv had been damaged, warning that residents should prepare for temporary blackouts in light, water supply and communication.
