The easiest way to get to Xirundu is to fly to the Mozambican capital, Maputo. SAA and Mozambican Airlines both fly daily from Johannesburg, or Kenya Airways from Nairobi, or Ethiopian Airways from Addis Abeba. Emirates and Qatar Airlines fly from most international locations.
From Maputo, you can arrange a rental vehicle. We recommend 4X4 for your convenience, but you can also travel in any sedan, and we will meet you where the 4X4 road begins and take you to your house. Follow the directions found on the website (4 to 5 hours depending on pace and stops). Shuttle services are also available for around $500, round trip.
An international airport situated close to Chibuto, approximately 45 minutes drive from Xirundu is scheduled to open at the end of 2021. This will shorten the car travel and extend the time you and your loved ones can spend at this peaceful getaway.
All accommodations are self-catering but fully serviced and beautifully appointed. All linens and towels and living comforts are provided. Our water comes from a deep well and is very pure and completely safe to drink. There are three nearby restaurants with excellent menus and local options including fresh seafood. Two are in easy walking distance (a stroll along the beach) and the third is a short drive through the bush or a longer walk along the beach.
At high season/or if you book two weeks in Advance we can provide you with a private chef who is specialized in African cuisine. The charge for the Chef per day (three meals) is 5000 Meticais per person.
